STEPPED INTO JEWELRY MANUFACTURING

In 1998 under the leadership of Mr. Rajesh Vyas & Mr.Kamlesh Vyas, a goal was created to transform an unorganized sector into an organized & corporate sector. We studied the operations of other industries, such as automotive, steel, and textile, and learned diverse manufacturing techniques, such as the Toyota Manufacturing Method Concepts of "just in time" and "Toyota quality." We used `Value Stream Mapping (VSM)` to manage the many components needed at various manufacturing stages as our first step in mapping all critical operations. As a result, the lead time and inventory holding days were reduced from 21 to 15 days.

Founded MARS

In 2003, we founded GROUP MARS to continue the tradition of fine craftsmanship by opening factories of MARS jewels in Hosur, Tamil Nadu, and RAMS jewels in Mumbai. Our Goals for these factories were to create a world-class work environment, Increase artisan ability and productivity by ensuring their safety and employment stability and address their health challenges. We wanted to sustain the craft of making handmade jewelry while managing inventory effectively to maintain on-time delivery and control gold process loss. Thus, we started manufacturing designs pan India from one location where one could find designs from Kashmir to Kanyakumari and from Gujarat to Bengal.

Modernizing the Factory

In 2014 we set up a centrally air-conditioned shop floor. Karigar's safety has always been our utmost priority. As Karigar's lifestyle improved we saw an increase in production, compared to the 0.6 to 0.7 grams of gold jewelry that a typical Indian Karigar makes each month, our Karigar generates 2.5 kilograms of gold jewelry each month with the aid of numerous process improvements and tools and modern technology.

Karigar Welfare Program

Group mars recognized the gap between the Karigar's supply and demand and are constantly trying to bridge it by providing a Karigar Welfare program. We conduct yoga sessions, set up free medical checkup camps, and support the education of Karigars children by providing them with their school fees. We provided No-Cost Canteen and Hostel facilities to all our Karigars.

Women Empowerment Program

Working on the principle of 'For Woman, Of Woman and By Woman.' We trained 20 local women to make jewelry in Hosur, Tamil Nadu to create an ideal industry suited for a woman. Adapted practices that will help the woman to make decisions and become leaders in our factory. Our focus is to empower women resulting in income generation on a self-sustaining level. We also provide them with the skills that enable them to become self-employed and make a lasting contribution in this field.

Adapting Lean Practices

We studied operations of industries like automobile, steel, and apparel and learned various manufacturing practices from them. We adopted lean practices like Value Stream Mapping (VSM), SOP Creation, Kanban JIT (Just in time), 6 SIGMA, 5 S, KAIZEN, etc to solve problems on a grass root level. These practices helped us transform an unorganized sector into an organized one. The process starts by getting a summary of the current status, then analyzing the situation, and suggesting plans that can be implemented as needed that could lead to sustainable results.

Became a part of MSME

The Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises is a ministry in the Government of India. Working in collaboration with the concerned Ministries we can implement domestic policies that help us modernize the gold manufacturing industry. This also helped us create employment opportunities thus playing a vital role in the country's development.

ISO 9001:2015

Rated ISO 9001:2008 in the year 2013, and currently certified with ISO 9001:2015. Through our training centers, we aim to provide knowledge and skills that contribute to operations and jewelry production of the future.

Accredited with ZED

We are the first jewelry manufacturers in India to have cleared ZED with a silver rating. We aim to implement ZED culture in India that will help to optimize the scheme for promotion focusing on the customer perspective, zero waste, and zero non-compliance. Also, a vision to keep zero air pollution, solid waste, or natural resources wastage.

Make In India Impact

In 2016 we attended the MAKE IN INDIA summit in Mumbai. We launched PMKVY, and under the recognized prior learning program (RPL), we certified 550 Karigars with HJMA which recognized Karigar's skill and art.

COVID Crisis Management

IIM Ahmedabad studied our covid crisis management. We followed Covid protocols and helped resolve employee issues by providing Medical health checkups and financial support via the employer support program. To negate the impact on the supply chain we created a well-coordinated process and communication systems.
